Parting
If I can only keep me moving on
From place to place where ever choice directs
I might never end back where I began
New places and new faces don’t suspect
The truth; that I am fleeing from myself
Too scared to hang around or settle down
No fear of being left upon the shelf
If I am moving on from town to town
No matter who I love, it never lasts
I don’t keep friends, it isn’t worth the pain
A kiss upon the cheek, liaison past
Wave me goodbye, ‘cos we won’t meet again
But yet there is a part of me sheds tears
As I flee from the loneliness of years.
